15 years on Cervidia

Sun Oct 18, 2009, 11:15 AM
It has been 15 years since I first created the Cervidians after experiencing a life-changing and inspiring vision. I must admit I always found the idea of anthropomorphic creatures fascinating, but I had no desire to create my own for a long time. I certainly would have never thought that deer would inspire me to create an entire universe of deer anthros. Before Cervidia, I was really into drawing xenomorphs and surrealism like that of HR Giger, and I still find his work intriguing. Nevertheless, I’m glad to have moved on to my own ideas. I mainly enjoy drawing ungulates which is a little unusual in the anthro community, but I’m delighted to see the interest others have taken in this growing and developing universe. I certainly hope that it will provide some inspiration for others, even if they find the idea of anthropomorphic deer a little strange.

It has also been 10 years since Magic Clam and I had first collaborated on the Cervidian drawings. Since 1999, he has added the color to my pencil and ink drawings. He has contributed much to the growth of Cervidia and it goes to show that two minds can be more dynamic and productive than one. It certainly helped to fuel my own inspiration to have someone else who was just as taken by these creatures and their world. Such artistic collaborations are truly a wonderful gift.

There is so much more we hope to share with our friends here on dA in the coming months. We are also in process of producing an art book that will celebrate our first 10 years of work on the Cervidian universe.

Thank you friends and watchers for the encouragement and support! I know that I have been less active at times, but I have enjoyed sharing the Cervidian art with all of you and more shall be arriving soon! :D

~Cheers
